It has been an exciting couple of weeks since our last report for both the cadets and staff. Starting with the delivery of the squadron’s new flight simulator. Sim2Do have done an excellent job, and our portable sim is up and running on squadron.
This will bring a great advancement to the aviation training we can offer and there was much excitement upon its first use. The official unveiling of the simulator to parents will be at our annual presentation evening at the end of February.
The first order of training for the sim is basic ground school and effects of controls lessons ahead of our return to powered Air Experience Flying in the Grob Tutor aircraft.
We have had two staff promotions on the squadron, with officers Debbie Keenan and Bradley Wright being promoted to Flying Officer. As Covid restrictions have eased both Flying Officers’ Keenan and Wright were able to attend an awards ceremony where they were presented their commissioning scrolls by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire.
As well as flying and shooting, we look forward to our upcoming presentation evening. We have been fortunate enough that the Deputy Lord Lieutenant has agreed to be our presenting officer as well as hosting Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire wing Commanding Officer, Wing Commander Kelly, as our VIP guests to join in celebrating our success.
If you know of a young person that will be age 12 and going into school year 8 this coming September, please email us and get them on our waiting list for joining.
