We have kick started the new year with several new achievements. Our cadet Non-Commissioned Officers have had a chance to attend their senior and junior NCO courses. Sergeant Tysoe completed the course and has been awarded with his silver leadership badge.
Corporal Vellacott was on the JNCO course; “I enjoyed my JNCO course on RAF Henlow where I learned invaluable skills in drill, leadership and RAF knowledge in order to better help others on their Air Cadet journey.”
The squadron civilian committee is responsible for all our fund raising and have now reached their long term funding objective, to purchase the squadron a top of the range flight simulator. As well as years of fundraising the equipment supplier, Sim2Do, have very generously sponsored some items on the simulator.
This new piece of equipment will help in all aspects of aviation studies, bringing subjects such as principles of flight, pilot navigation and flying and handling techniques to life on the squadron.
We are due delivery soon and cannot wait to make the most of this top of the range equipment. Along with the recently purchased drone technology the squadron is now well positioned to provide even more comprehensive local based aviation training to our cadets.
We look forward to hosting the annual ATC Sunday parade through the village on Sunday 6th February. We also have shooting and powered flying allocated for the coming weeks. As always a busy start to the year!
