April, 2022

2523 Linton Air Cadets.

March kicked off with a visit from the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire at our presentation evening. It was a fantastic night where we could recognise all the achievements from over lockdown and since returning face to face. The Deputy Lieutenant was our presenting officer for certificates of achievement and the various trophies, such as best new cadet awarded to Cdt Graves.

Senior wing staff were also present and Squadron Leader Hicks was able to present promotions to the cadets: Flight Sergeants Murray and Tysoe, Sergeants Webb, Morris (Oliver), Vellacott and Corporals Little, Morris (Joe), Newell, Pevley, Spall and Stewart.

The evening concluded with the Deputy Lieutenant officially unveiling the new squadron simulator.

We are now straight back in to activities. As well as leadership training we had 8 cadets take part in a small bore rifle shoot, culminating in several marksman awards: Squadron Marksman were awarded to FS Murray, Sgt Vellacott, Cdt Cook and Cdt Richards. Trained shot awards went to Cpl Spall, Cdt Foster and Cdt Addison.

We have now also had our first powered flying allocations in the Grob Tutor since returning back. Cdts Russell, Cook and Richards flew with 7AEF from RAF Cranwell for their first taste of powered flying in the RAF Air Cadets.

We have a stack of activities to look forward to over the coming weeks and months. So why not join us? If you or someone you know is aged 12 and going into year 8 this September get in touch to join our waiting list.
